Medical care for the whole family
Nuclear stress testing – a very safe procedure – involves the injection of a small amount of radioactive tracer material into your bloodstream. After the material has been injected and given time to circulate to your heart, a special camera takes pictures which reveal any area(s) in the heart that may not be receiving enough blood.
This procedure is more accurate than EKGs and is essentially non-invasive. The materials used in this procedure, such as Myoview and Thallium, have been proven to be safe and have virtually no side effects. In fact, this procedure has become a universally accepted alternative to other, more aggressive – and sometimes less accurate – heart-testing procedures.
If you would like more details about the procedure, the staff at Macomb Imaging Center or your physician will be happy to answer any questions you may have, or you can visit our website at www.macombimaging.com
